Carnivore diet is a form of diet that only eat meats and other animal products. However due to its restriction and the fact that it’s not balanced diets, there are several negative health effect that its practitioner could suffer.
1. Carnivore diet is high in cholesterol and fat.
Diets that only focus on animal products can contain high saturated fat and cholesterol. Saturated fat in your body could raise your bad cholesterol, which then could increase your risk of heart disease.
2. Possible deficiencies in some macronutrients and useful plant compounds.
Eliminating highly nutritious foods like fruits, legumes, vegetables and whole grains may result in nutrition deficiencies. This happen because all of them contain beneficial vitamins and minerals.
Meat itself is a nutritious food that could provide micronutrients, but eating them exclusively is not healthy options. In addition to that, diets that are rich in plant have been linked to lower risk of some chronic conditions such as heart disease, certain cancers, type-2 diabetes and Alzheimer.
3. Lack of fiber
Fiber is very important carb that beneficial for gut health and healthy bowel movements. This unfortunately is only found in plant-based foods. Therefore, due to its exclusive nature, Carnivore Diet doesn't contain fiber and may cause constipation to some people. In addition to that, fiber is highly important to develop proper balance of bacteria in your gut. Suboptimal gut health could result in several problems. This also linked to weakened immunity and even colon cancer.
