Short Introduction to Volumetrics diet.

Compared to other diet, method volumetrics diet offers different approach towards weight loss. Volumetrics diet is a diet that emphasize on developing healthy eating patterns instead of a structured and restrictive diet. This diet is designed by Dr. Barbara Rolls, a nutrition professor at Penn State University. This diet is centered on dietary "energy density" and "nutrient density". Foods that have high energy density have higher calorie content. Food with low energy density on the other hand has fewer calories. In the similar way, nutrient-dense food provides higher levels of nutrients correspond to the amount of calories they contain. Oftentimes, these food have little to no saturated fat, additional sugars and sodium.

Based on the idea of energy and nutrient density, volumetric diet emphasizes on eating low-energy-dense and high-nutrient-dense foods such as fruits, vegetables, low-fat dairy and whole grains. On the contrary, foods that are high-energy-dense such as food with high proportion of unhealthy fats or sugar and little moisture are limited. By emphasizing on eating foods with low calories but high in water and other important nutrients, the practitioner's body will feel satisfied while at the same time still losing weight.
